Trying to Look, 2021.
Video and matte paper inkjet prints.
In both moving and still images, the project employs a reflective, intimate gaze on the apartment space. The inside is felt and heard, but not shown. It's clear the images were made while being "inside", but where is this inside? An unidentified, urban, or European "home"? The hexagonal frame of the home and the window frame are observed and recorded, revealing an intimate position towards the view, while hiding the narrator, speaker, and maker of the scene. Shape, perspective, and sound are used as materials for this artistic contemplation about domestic/urban, voyeuristic/exposed, inside/outside banalities of corona-art-works.
